Ever wondered what it’s like to gain real-life experience while traveling and meeting amazing people? That’s exactly what happened during our internship project in the Czech Republic in October 2023! A group of young people from Poland and Greece embarked on an exciting journey full of learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth.
First Stop: Český Těšín – Think Tanks & Tea Talks
The adventure kicked off in Český Těšín, where participants got an insider’s look at how a Think Tank operates. They also attended an important meeting at the District Office about World Mental Health Day—definitely an eye-opener! But it wasn’t all serious discussions; the afternoons were spent in a cozy tea shop, where they talked about mindfulness and expectations while sipping on delicious brews.
Karviná – Business, Youth Power & Ukrainian Cuisine
In Karviná, they dived into youth activism by learning about the Youth Council’s work. They also got hands-on experience at the Business Gate Academy, where they explored the power of discussion, knowledge sharing, and getting involved in the community. One of the highlights? A Ukrainian cultural evening where they got to taste traditional dishes and showcase a board game they had designed to inspire creativity and problem-solving.
A Day in Ostrava – Universities, Mental Health, and City Vibes
Ostrava welcomed the participants with a visit to the local university and a session on mental health and youth work. And of course, they couldn’t miss the chance to explore the city and soak in its unique atmosphere.
Havířov & Český Těšín – Game Development & Cultural Chill
Back in Český Těšín and Havířov, they refined their board game while enjoying more cultural exchange. One of the best moments? A tea tasting session that brought the group even closer together.
The Grand Finale: Kroměříž – Beating Burnout Like a Pro
A key part of the internship was training in Kroměříž on how to protect youth workers from burnout. The participants learned essential skills like stress management, effective communication, and emotional balance—skills they can apply not just in their future careers but in everyday life too.
More Than Just an Internship…
This experience wasn’t just about learning—it was about growing as individuals. The participants gained skills in everything from designing educational games to cooking, while also building lifelong friendships. Cultural exchange was a huge part of it all, helping them become better communicators and more open-minded global citizens.
